Mainstreaming OSH into business management

Organizations address the occupational safety and health (OSH) in different ways, some organizations have little expertise in OSH and basically react to problems (such as accidents and occupational diseases) as they arise in a reactive manner. Other topics are covered in a more systematic OSH conducting systematic risk assessments, implementing action plans, monitor preventive measures, etc.. Some organizations go a step further and act more proactively integrating OSH management into other management systems (eg Quality, Environment).

The way that OSH is implemented is very important. Studies reveal that OSH structure, integrated into the overall business management is one of the key success factors to ensure improved safety and health.
